What is 5k Dance Party?
It’s a 5K like you’ve never seen before. Imagine thousands of people dressed in all black, wearing tons of glow gear, running through the city, while dancing to jams piped through speakers all along the course. It’s glow-in-the-dark meets 5K fun run meets massive dance party. We’ll end the event with a huge dance party at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds.
What do I get with my ticket?
Entrance to the 5K Dance Party, glow swag, and an unforgettable night.
What should I wear & bring?
Wear all black and your best glow attire. We’ll have extra glow apparel for sale at packet pick-up before the event. You’ll need cash for drinks and food.
Can I bring my children or a pet?
This event 18+ and not open to pets.
Where is the race & what time does it start?
The race begins at 7:00 pm on October 5th at Santa Clara Fairgrounds, followed by a dance party.
Is the run timed?
Nope–this is a 5K Dance Party. Everyone’s invited including seasoned runners, first-time runners, dancers, and walkers. This 5K Dance Party is all about the fun. Runners who want to keep their time are encouraged to bring a watch.
What’s the event schedule?
The race begins at 7:00 pm. We’ll release 1,000 runners approximately every 5 minutes to ensure the course is not too crowded.
What’s the weather plan?
The 5K Dance Party will take place rain or shine. Your safety is our primary concern so we will continue to monitor weather conditions. Should severe conditions arise, we will alert you of any change in plans.
Where can I pick up my packet?
Please check back HERE as we get closer to race day for more information about where to pick up your packet prior to race day. We will also have a last minute packet-pick up on race day starting at 5 pm at Santa Clara Fairgrounds. We always recommend picking up your packet ahead of time to avoid lines. More info coming soon!
Can I have someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, but they must have a copy of your LivingSocial voucher.
Can spectators come?
The race and after party are closed to non-ticketed patrons. We also have after-party only tickets available which people who are not interested in running can purchase. The race finishes in the after party so the after-party only purchasers will be waiting to give high-fives at the finish line!
Are walkers welcome?
Walkers are absolutely welcome at the 5K Dance Party.
Can I give or sell my number to another person?
Each voucher is good for one person only. If you’re unable to attend the event you may change the participant information via the Event Details page. Be sure the person replacing you has a copy of your LivingSocial voucher.
Will there be a gear check?
There will not be gear check available at this event. Please only bring items you need for the event, including your government issued photo ID. No storage will be provided so bring only what you can carry with you. The packet we are providing can be worn as a back pack to carry your necessary items during the race.

Will there be food and drink available at the Dance Party?
Beer, soda, and a select catering menu will be available for purchase. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions.
Does this event benefit charity?
Yes! A portion of proceeds from this event will be used to donate solar lamps to school children in Somalia without electricity. As we illuminate our city, we’re also lighting up the night for those in need across the globe.

How does the extra solar lantern donation work?
For an extra $10, you can add on another solar lantern to be donated to children without electricity in Somalia, in addition to the solar lanterns LivingSocial is donating on behalf of the 5K Dance Party. After a $1 transaction fee to process your payment, your contribution will go to Mercy Corps’ critical work to bring help and hope to people around the world.
